What would you pay for?

What would you pay for a one dictionary word domain (extension .co.uk), receiving between 400 and 500 unique visitors a month from type-in traffic only?

Im with Idees. Although if it was a nice keyword domain, or at least the type of name that I could take and develop into a mini site, id say it would be semi valuable.

Apparently, revenue is $750 a year from parking (at least according to the seller).

Personally, I can't see how that's possible with this kind of traffic...

If its a high paying keyword, he might be getting good paying clicks, so its possible. Have you seen screen shots? Is the seller from NP, if not where is he from? Did you verify ownership of the name, and lastly if you dont mind me asking, what is the name?

I have seen screen shots of traffic statistics.
The seller is not from NP, I saw the site listed for sale on sedo, and contacted the seller via his parked page.
I did verify ownership of the name, yes... but I'd rather not say what the name is...

I only asked, to see if the keywords in the name would make it pay out those types of numbers. Tough to say really, but any developments occur, please let us know.

Depends on the word, anything from £100 to £100,000

looks like ~$4/click with 100% ctr.....

we can still make a better appraisal without explicitly giving out the name. what niche is the word in?

I didn't want to give the name, as I think it is against forum rules to ask for appraisal of domains you don't own...
But, well, the domain is a martial art... like kungfu.co.uk , only not this one ;-)

i've never heard of the martial arts category consistently making $4 per click... how many months of stats did s/he provide with you?

(and it's ok because this thread is not in the appraisal forum.)

The type in traffic volume and annual revenue are reasonable for a commercially appealing keyword.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=494334

450 unique visitors per month x 12 months = 5400 unique visitors per year

assume 30% click rate: 5400 x 0.3 = 1620 clicks per year

assume $0.47 per click: 1620 x $0.47 = $761 revenue per year

That's great... makes a lot of sense...
Isn't it amazing though you can probably get better click rates and revenue from type-in traffic by parking a domain, rather than by developping it!

I wanted to develop that domain, but -based on previous experiences- there's no way I can get anywhere near these figures on adsense!

Oh, he gave me 12 months statistics by the way, but just traffic... no click rate or revenue...

Two ways to evaluate the name before purchase:

1) Arrange a traffic test (temporary nameserver change).
2) Analyze google adwords keyword search and bid numbers. The analysis is more meaningful if you have other keyword.sametld names in your portfolio to relate the adwords prediction with known performance.

? If you were to not develop the domain, if you bought it. You would be crazy. Developing it will surely increase your income, if done correctly. You will get full SEO benefits with a keyword name like that. You would be wrong if you did not develop the name if and when you purchased it.

kungfu.co.uk is probably worth in the region of £20,000 IMHO.

Sadly not, but going by similar style names etc that price would not be miles off assuming normal sale.

If you can sneek in with £500 and nab it you will be turning a decent profit on the flip!

That's a good amount of unique visitors for type-in traffic only. I usually only buy new domains or really awesome dropped domains.
I've been burned too many times by people that I just wouldn't trust the other party.
The fact that the domain is a .co.uk domain doesn't help though. I'm not into anything but .com, .net and .info.

.co.uk helps it alot in my view

Likewise I think .info are complete junk names, but hey it seems different people think different things In terms of this thread I do not see how .co.uk is an issue at all, but I can see how it would be a major benefit

I hardly hide it

The point is, for a .co.uk name the extension does not hurt it at all, as was posted:

The fact that the domain is a .co.uk domain doesn't help though. I'm not into anything but .com, .net and .info.

It is a common theme on NamePro's that people comment outside their knowledge area giving incorrect advice and or 'valuations'.

Generally speaking I try not to comment when I do not have a solid foundation for what I say and I wish others would do the same
