The same as flipping a house. Selling something quickly for more than you paid.

You Pay $100 for a domain name and sell it two weeks later for $200. That is flipping.

I am a newbie to the domain flipping arena also. Is there anywhere on here that you can get ideas on how much your domain might be worth? I think nonsensical domains are boring so I feel as if I have some worthwhile domains.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies to me.

I would recommend putting your domains in the Namepros appraisal forums. The guys there are usually within a pretty good range, so it wouldnt hurt to ask.

There are many ways to gauge the value of a domain, but most are subjective.

- Google Results. Make sure to put the term in "quotes"
- Word Tracker / Keyword Search Frequency. Shows how popular a search is.
- PPC Ads / PPC Bid.
- Liquidity. Is it is a popular format like LLL.com, LLLL.com, or some other type of unique pattern.
- PR , Traffic, Alexa ranking can also add value.

Glad you posted that I thought about what I wrote, and although its true, I couldve added a bit more and was actually coming back to this thread to do that. Glad you cleared it up for the new guy

I checked out some of my domains using the Google search in quotations. Kind of discouraging I'm afraid.

Not everything needs huge results in Google to be valuable. To me the most important question is this - Is there an possible end user who wants this domain?

On the flip side, just because there are a lot of Google results does not guarantee value. It really depends what type of results they are.

It is a decent name, but it wouldn't really appeal to an end user looking for that type of financial domain to be honest. Just my opinion.

The terms are kind of odd together. I could see something like ExtremeWealth, or ExtremeIncome, or something like that.

20 years ago, if Sergey Brin told his friend he was going to buy, Google.com do you think they said, boy thats a great name, etc? the response wouldve been different. It all depends on what you plan to do with it. I know you want to flip domains, but from what ive learned thus far in my online business career. The quick buck, isnt always the best buck. If I were you, I would sit down, and put a mini site together, do some marketing, at least make the reg fee back on the name. Then you can go out and seek buyers, but since you will have already made money on the name, you wont jump at the $15 offer, the second it comes through.

If you are interested in mini site development, and the such. Shoot me a PM or send me a message on either AIM or MSN and we can talk.

Best of luck to you,
Peter J. Foti

I'm definitely playing with the idea of developing some of my domains. From what I've gathered, people develop their domains and then put affiliate links all over them? I currently have an account with Clickbank but their products seem really generic. I haven't heard of anyone making any money worth talking about by using affiliate programs. I'm not really sure if I want to develop domains that would only bring in $5 a month.

I did find out that I can get Adobe Creative Suite CS3 at my college for $300 and some dollars. I'm excited about that because I've always wanted to be able to learn Photoshop and how to create logos and such. If you can't tell, I would like to eventually find something I can do from home and still be able to pay bills. I see a lot of unrealistic kids thinking that they can become millionaires over night with these ideas, but I dont have many bills and wouldn't need a huge income.
