what does develop mean? I always see it in the appraisal thread.

Go around the appraisal threads and you will see a namepro member saying, your domain is worth xx but if developed, it's worth xxx or more.

Now, i dont quite understand the develop part. Do they mean creating content on your website? Say if your domain name is bestloans.com, do they mean developing content on loans?

I dont quite get this part because if they buyer is interested in the domain name, wouldn't he just get the domain name and develop it himself?

Or does the 'develop' mean developing a website PLUS SEO it and get traffic so that you can now sell your domain for more.

Anyone please enlighten me?

yes you're right development means putting up content by way of a forum for membership or a blog for unique content by way of a turnkey script as well.

Hi,

I dont know about others, but when I use the word it is the second reason you mention:

Developing a website PLUS SEO.

But keep in mind, it is not EVERY domain thats worth developing, you have to make a investment plan before you invest/buy domains.

Best regards,

omg thanks for replies.

So it seems i'd a very different point of view for domaining all these while.

I always thought that by going into the domain business, it's all buying cheap and sell high; that's what i've been doing. (finding good expired domains which i think is good and sell to end-users because they will not do that normally.)

Or

You buy a domain name and hold for a period of time hoping the price would go up eventually. Something like investment.

Afterall, i was bought into this industry being told that this is the way domaining works.

So now i know what developing is and i have a few questions.

1) By developing the website, i also need to have TRAFFIC and the website has got to make PROFIT right? Afterall, who would want to buy a developed website that has no traffic. They might as well just buy the name and develop the website themselves?

2) What if one has no interest in developing but only flipping the domains, do you advise him to stay on or quit?

Thanks!

It is about buying cheap and selling high, BUT to do so you have to make a plan, and not just jump in to it and buy a domain without doing any plan to what to do with the domain.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=472646

First in IMO, you have to split your investments in two parts and have that back in your head when you are buying domains:

1. short-time investment
2. long-time investment

Because the type of domains you are buying will differenciate, depending on which investment it is.

YOU DONT HAVE TO DEVELOPE but for SOME domains it will make it easier to sell.

And yes if you are developing, then you have to do the whole thing, including getting traffic. But it doesnt have to make a profit, this is not an must. IMO

If you have good typos or keyword domain, then most just park them. This is also good. It all depends on what tactic you have laid for the domain.

As I can see it, there are only three ways domaining:
1. Park
2. Develope
3. Flip

Before you buy any domain, you have to decide what of the three thing you want to do with the domain.

- If its park, you need domains with good keywords or typos. Popular topic/subject.
- If its developing, you need domains that easy to remember, brandable. Popular topic/subject.
- If its flipping, easy to remember, brandable, popular topic/subject, good keywords or typos.

This is of course all my own opinion, I am sure there are a lot of other ways to think about domaining.

The keyword is that you have to look at domaining like all other business. This is an investment, where, as yourself said, buy cheap and sell high. But as I said to do that you have to have a plan.

Good luck with your investments and best regards,

Best regards,
