PayPal called me to know what I bought

PayPal called me to know what I bought ($1K transaction) to the buyer X, I told it was a domain name which seemed to satisfy them. I think this is standard procedure, is it ? Should I tell the seller ?

Thanks

They really called you? First time I heard the proactive side of PayPal, usually they never care. I have made $5k transactions, but never got any questions asked. Not necessary to tell the seller as long as you know him/her. Good luck!

Yes they did. I think there's nothing wrong with it, maybe it's their new policy, I'm quite a new customer of them. But would be interested to know if others have been contacted !

Baby Health

I have been contacted at least 4-5 times from them during the last year over purchases. Although, I'm kind of used to it because AmEx calls me nearly every time I make a purchase over 1k outside the US.

I get sometimes calls for the transactions go over a certain amount. That said I get calls from the credit card company even before Paypal ever does.
At least they try to verify your purchases and even if it is sometimes a hassle being called up in the middle of the night (probably due to time zone differences), I still value services that ensure that you are the one who actually made the transaction.

I have gotten calls too over the years. Standard procedure. Paypal isn't the irresponsible company a few bad apples make it out to be.

Well they certainly can't pick-out all the big transactions that goes on everyday out there but maybe they're doing random checking of transactions... you know maybe sort a random search in the airport for security purposes.

Or maybe it has something to do with your type of account that's why it got flagged...I'm just speculating ofcourse.
