Need some domain pcikup techniques

Folks,
I know that there are many expereieced professionals here. I am a newbie. I came to the domain world around 2 and half months back and a namepro member ever since. Though I picked some great domains(I think it is luck), still many waste domains I bought. I need some suggestions.
I know about google and wordtrack searches for key words. My doubts are given below. I am just figuring out some formula to choose the domain wisely.

(a)Which one would be better among these.
one is (i + keyword) or (e + keyword) or (the + keyword) + (my + keyword).
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/449643-need-some-domain-pcikup-techniques.html
is it just go and search for the keywords in the combination in google and wordtracker? or something else is there? Which order would be good?

(b)Still i don't understand why (keyword + ing) or (keyword + ed) doesn't even go one fourth of keyword. fund.com went for 10M$. I doubt funding.com ever goes to 1M$

(c)Any other techniques are welcome?

Thank you very much

Well, out of the prefixed you picked out - I love i / e / and my (I dislike very much "the"). I tend to focus on 2 word domain names that are very common keywords. I make an attempt to acquire this type of domain name from the original registrant instead of a fresh registration. You can find some great deals if your patience and approach the original registrant in the right way.

Thank you very much spade. I never thought about getting from the original registrant. I will try from now onwards.

So the order of the prefixes are i,e,my,the.

What about suffix(-ing form)

how many results we get when we enter the keyword in the google.
Second is searching wordtrack record http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/

If you enter the keyword in the estibot, it will give all these results.
