What might be easier for you to get started would be to just point your own personal domain to your blog. There is a section on blogger where you can do this but I am not sure exactly where its at. Check their help section for instructions.

If you are persistant on wanting a blog on your host then check out wordpress.org which is another blog system that is very easy to install and use.

Well Blogger itself doesn't provide a service for nameservers (thus yourdomain.com to go to blogger.com) and they don't provide FTP services. So for that you'll need a separate host but you can still point your name to your account by creating a CNAME with your domain registrar to point to your blog.

I stand corrected..thank you Raged
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/444664-ftp-server.html

I think not having this option on the blogger side is a very big oversight on their part.

If you want to move your blogger blog from blogspot, you can do this very easily. You CANNOT do this and keep the newer features that blogger is offering, but if you have the older templates it is simple.

- At your hosting account you will need your FTP information. If you want to be more secure, you should create an FTP account for blogger to use. You also need to know the full FTP path to the blog folder you will create.

- You also should create a folder for the blog and remember the name.

- In the blog folder, create a folder called "archive" (or something else for the archive files.

1) Log into blogger.
2) Go to settings.
3) Go to publishing.
4) Select switch to: FTP
5) Enter in the FTP server.
6) Enter in the URL to the blog (domain.com/blog/)
7) Enter the FTP path
8) Enter the blog filename (you can use index.php if you need to)
9) Enter in the FTP username and password
10) Enter in settings for Archiving and *Email*.
11) Edit or change your template if you like, and remove the "blogger NavBar" if you want. When you use FTP you can remove it.
12) Publish!

Wordpress is great in many ways, but why do I have 60 blogger blogs? Because they are easier to use and posting by email works MUCH BETTER (at least for me). I used to have two WP blogs, so I do know how much cool stuff they offer, but spammers twice found out what my post by email address was and went nuts. Also, I had a real hard time getting the WP email posts to look right and not break the formatting. After working with blogger for a while I can now post and be pretty sure my posts won't break the template or look like spam...! :-) PM me for samples.
