I need to know some answers regarding the new dot asia tld which i'm hoping to get an awnser to.

Is it as simple as registering one on the website? Or will it need to be an application?

And how come so many good ones are available still? Is this just generally what happens when it is first released?

.asia is in the preregistration for the Land Rush which begins Feb 20 and ends in March. So this is how they do it, you register sex.asia and pay the domain registrar, then come feb 20th you know bid against the millions of others like us that thought they stumbled onto a winner, then some hedge fund set up to by domaine names dumps 100,000 G's or so onto it, and the rest of us saps get refunded. If however you registered, iliketocountmytoesin.asia then you may get lucky and if someone else didnt register it, then the 16th of march you get it. I found this out from godaddy after think i was the luckiest man alive for about an hour, they have decided to remove the .asia domain registration from their site, they must have figured out that refunding 2000 sex.asia guys only to make ten bucks from the winner was not exactly good math considering the credit card charges they would have to fork out on the transactions

for example, to try buying sex.asia, i can put as "Technical Contact" one friend's address in asia, and as administrator my european / us contact?

so the contact in asia won't have any responsibility / right to that domain, but anyway i will be able to buy that .asia.


I'm not sure it is that simple, maybe i miss something.

As far as i am aware they don't refund you as they never charged you, in the first place.

It is a pending invoice, you will get charged if you win/get the domain.
