| New Member | Submitted a post, yesterday, in which I substituted an absolutely whack name in place of the real one. (I'll not go into how weird it was that it took me three attempts to find a suitable substitute name--two other, even more bizarre ones were actually reg'd.) Now, the only reason I went to those lengths was because I've seen that most of the posts in the NP forums refer to domains in one cloaked way or another (except for appraisals, etc, where the actual name has to be revealed) and I didn't want to do anything unnecessarily stupid by being candid. Why all the stealth? Clearly, I'm missing something. |

| Senior Member | Alot of people will not devulge the identity of the domain for several reasons. 1. To avoid backlinks 2. To protect privacy (dont want people to know the site they are working on) 3. So other people wont reg it before they get a chance 4. If it is TMed and dont want to raise a flag they they own a copywrited domain I am sure there are many other reasons, but these are a few I have come across. Also I have found on various websites, listings of available domains that will mask the domain and say.. 6 letter.. etc. I personally avoid these sites because they want you to pay to get a listing of the domains, which are public knowledge anyway. Hope this helped.

| Senior Member | The more exposure a name has on a public reseller's forum like this, the more chance a potential end user could find the name and its reseller sales price on the internet. This may jeopardise the chance of a major sale. This is also a reason to make your best offer early, so the name you are after is removed from public viewing... |

| NamePros Regular | I rarely post domain names because all I do is park names and if you start posting names when google picks up the posts it will hurt you traffic wise. I have posts i made 5 years ago show up higher than my parked names for the exact term because sites like these rank high in google |
