It depends on the use. .ORG can often be more valuable than .NET to charities and organizations (often nearing the .COM price).

My .NET sales in '07 amounted to a whopping mid - high $Xxx, but my .ORG sales will be more than mid $X,xxx (with at least two more in the pipeline for '08), IMHO.

No, no rule. That's a myth. The market shows that noncom extension values vary considerably in relation to the .com version. And the majority will close the gap as the domain market continues to mature.

I don't, In my experience if the .com isn't available, business will prefer to develop on the net rather than the org, YMMV.
