First Name domains worth it?

Hi everyone....

I got a quick question... Are first name domains worth much?

Such as:
peter.com
sally.com
courtney.com, etc...

I have the chance to buy a first name domain name but not really
sure if they are a good investment???

Any opinions appreciated!

thanks,

HumDog

I say go for it if you think its a good buy. I would love to have any of the first person dot com names you mention in your example. First names are memorable and gets a lot of searches (Peter gets 1639 searches a day according to Wordtracker, http://estibot.com/results.php?domain=peter.com)

Got to be a heaps of Peter's who would pay anything to get Peter.com! How much would you pay to have it Peter?

Cheers

I am not that interested in peter.com because I already own
my full first and last name.com and am working on getting
just my last name .com..

but your answser did help me to decide...

I am going to try and get one of the first names..

If I am successfull I will post back and let you know which one
i got..

Thanks!

Peter

Well you gotta watch out for scammers on ebay! Of course you guys already know this I'm sure....

I was going to buy courtney.com but then I realized that it's spelled with
a "zero" instead of an "o"...

Of course the seller failed to point this out in the auction, imagine that.. :-O

So I emailed her and told her if I won the auction, (hopefully someone will
put in a bid above mine) that I was not going to buy it...

Oh well live and learn!

here is an example. my husband owned his_name.net for years. It is not a common name at all. He accidentally dropped it and was really sad about it. When i tried to buy it back the new owner, domainer, asked for $1000 for it. So go for it. Anyway it worth more than reg fee.

Have a look around the ccTLD's, I am sure your husband would love his personal domain name in any of them, and it would be a lot cheaper!

Unless i hit the jackpot of the lottery that i never play, i think my chances to get Mike.com or Michael.com or any nickname deriving thereof, are practically non existing.
I just went with my last name in .com version. It's a rather rare name, however I'm rather save than sorry.
