Buy/Sell - How soon can I sell after I buy?

Hi

I can't seem to find the information at the various registrars how fast I can sell a domain name once I have registered it or had it pushed. So my questions are

1. If I register a name that I thought of, how soon before I can sell it?

2. If I buy a name from someone, how long before I can turn around and sell it?

Is it different for every registrar? If so, does anyone know the rules for

Godaddy
Moniker
1and1
Dynadot

Thanks everyone!!

I believe that you are able to sell about a week after you buy. This gives the registrar time to refresh everything. I dont think you should have a probably with selling after you buy at least i never have.

as soon as the name is in your account
sometimes, depending on the extension you reg it takes more time to the update... i really dont remeber what they are but if you reg a ccTLD dont sell it after 3-5 days for precaution

yes, godaddy is different... you cant transfer the name unless you own it for more than 60 days... if you have the name for less than 60 days you are allowed just to push the domain

I think every registrar has it's own guidelines on this.

Take GD for example, you can sell within a week or registering a new domain name, but only to an account holder who has a GD account.

If you wanted to sell this domain and have it transferred to another registrar, GD requires a 60 day wait (or so I understand that to be).

As soon as you are legal owner, then you can sell. But it's probably safest to wait until you have control of the domain.

As mosilager says beware of different resitrars (and registries) rules on transferring ownership.
