| Senior Member | question re: search results order Can someone explain what determines the order of search results from google or yahoo? For example, I searched "flight attendant". Why does it list several sites that do not list either search term in the domain name before it lists one that does? Makes me wonder, if you have a site catering to flight attendants (which I don't), and you want to be near the top of a search results list, domain name doesn't seem to be the most important thing. |

| Senior Member | You are exactly right, the domain name is not the most important thing. But it does have some weight so it's good to get a domain with good keywords. Not just links, but the keywords used for the link are a factor. And of course what keywords are on the site, where, how used, and how many times all play a part. Exactly "how" all of this and more works is a secret that we try to guess at. Then they change how it works...

| NamePros Legend | a lot of other factors, google knows it sometimes they put it in blog, sometimes not 1. make sure your site is listed on google 2. check your allinurl 3. check your backlinks see also https://www.google.com/webmasters/to.../en/about.html |
