Help! What do you do after you purchase a domain?

I just got a domain. What do I do afterwards? lol

Someone told me to test the water by doing everything myself in order to get better idea about domains. But I am stuck at the moment. I'm not sure if I should park or resell it since this is my first one (is there any other possible choice?). How did your first domain go? What was it like? I'm trying to read as much as I can on NamePros. It seems like I have A LOT to go through. If anyone can just give me an insight about their first domain, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

No need to flip, park it to check for traffic. Nothing is worse than selling a name that you didn't realize could have been making you good parking revenue.

Oh okay. Thank you! Should I park at Sedo? Or is there another website?

Park it anywhere if it's not parked! (Sedo, Namedrive, Bodis--if you have an account... just make sure it's parked!) My rule is to purchase a potential parking money maker or a decent developed site. Always park first, then develop (since it might take me a week to decide things out). If development didn't do well, goes back to parking and under my "reconsider renewal" list.

I'm not sure what you guys mean when you say "develop". Does that mean I have to be a webmaster?

develop means create a little or big website for the name , i think it is better to go a had and park the domain while you trying to figure out how to develop or find who can do it for you , in that case you shoot 2 birds with one stone

that's what i thought also a few years ago. But you can start easy for example with wordpress blog http://wordpress.org/ .

that's a blog where you can change a lot and it's free. there are even free layouts. So with that you can also start making traffic. If you want to gain a little bit of money. Take a closer look at adsense. https://www.google.com/adsense
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=386843

hopefully this help you a little bit.

Lets get real....the first thing you will want to do is find out if the name is of any value for ppc income. Thats the easy part...just place it on one of the ppc sites and see if you get any traffic. If you've just registered the name and don't get any traffic then maybe you should cancel it, pay your tasting fee and look for a better name.....unless of course there is some hidden value...like maybe its a 4 letter (cvcv) etc.

Note...you only have 5 days to cancel...4 days with some companies and then you may not have any with other companies. It depends on who you registered it with.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=386843

If you think the name may be good for a website then you should develop it, host it, and put ppc ads on it.
BTW...what is the name? (if you don't mind saying)

I develop all my domains. I figured that the internet has enough parked domains, so I tried something more interesting (plus nothing annoys me more than a parked page - one of the reason I never type in domains without knowing what they are anymore).

I would try parking it somewhere like NameDrive, Sedo, Parked, Bodis, etc. If that doesn't pull much revenue, I would sign up for Google Adsense and park your domain at 1plus.net.

If that doesn't do so well, try to develop the site yourself by adding content, blog, or a forum to it (this will require hosting) in combination with an advertising program like Adsense, CJ, Yahoo, or MSN adCenter.

I have artclubcafe.com and fantasyanalyzer.com

Both of them sounded cool to me. haha I'm such a newbie. Plus, I used Domainer's Edge and the traffic seem pretty nice. If I do park them, how long do you think it will take for me to see a positive or negative signs on the websites?

By the way, can you park the website at different parking websites at once? Or you can only do it one at a time?

I would give it at least a couple of weeks to see how your traffic/clicks look.

You can only have the domain parked at one parking service at a time. NameDrive would be a good one to start with. It is free and easy to set up an account with them.

I wouldn't say 'park it ANYWHERE'... do your research, some places are better than others.

How long do you think it takes for the websites to drive some sort of income in general? Do you invest in few websites at a time or a bunch if money is available?

Park it ... if unsure of keywords people are searching on in relation to the domain, then park it at NameDrive (very good keyword stats) ... for ease of management and good, fast payouts, then put it at Parked.com

In my view, Sedo is about the last place to park a domain unless one is also trying to sell it there.

If a domain gets even as little as a few visitors per week, parking can be very profitable.

With that said, in my view, it's better to fully develop a domain when possible. While it's tempting to just throw a blog on ... keep in mind that lots of traffic doesn't always equal more money ... I've seen parked domains come up better in the SEs / perform better than blogs with numerous pages.

Agree with park it first and see the sort of results you get from it. During the time of parking spend time reaserching your name.

You can then start on working on potential usage for your domain on a website. It may take you some time to get a good site up and running. But would def recommend posting any questions you have here on NP and dont think its all over if it don't work first time around.

My first one was a real flop, but now have a half decent site running with vodka.in

Dont give up and always look for help.

All the best

I've parked the domains. Both of them drive some sort of traffic, but I don't think they click the links on the page. I'm thinking about selling these two domains and look for new ones. I'm not good with development because I don't have the knowledge or the money to pay someone to do it for me. If I do want to sell these websites, what are the steps? I tried looking for steps how to put up sell and transfer domains, but I didn't find any one namepros. Help?
