Question Backorder Domains

Is there good software available to compete with snapnames, pool, namewinner, etc. in dropped domain grabbing with some chance for success?
All comments and experiences are highly welcome.

Thanks a lot.

No desktop software can compete with a dropcatcher these days. If you manage to catch one withe a desktop program chances are the name was not desirable at all.

But what is the reason for this huge advantage?
What does the dropcatcher have, what a software developer is unable to realize?

They have rrp, which is direct to the domain servers which can tell if a name comes avlaible in 0.00's of a second.

Api desktop scripts work by looking up whois which may take 3-10 seconds maybe even a few mins.

So there is no chance.

But you can snap well with api for .org and .us.

Registrars

Thanks a lot.
I found this interesting Who is Who?:
www.whois-search.com/deleting/who.php
I think the main problem is, that the really effective grab-script must run on registrar-level, who has the interface to the shared registry and this registrars have their catch-partners like listed on the above site.
