Arrow Singular & Plural

I begin buying domain names nowadays.
I am just wondering which one is better to buy plural or singular domain? (let say, movieticket.xxx or movietickets.xxx, greetingcard.xxx or greetingcards.xxx, hotelreview.xxx or hotelreviews.xxx).
Of course the best to buy both but the budget not enough especially ccTLD or other than .com .net . org (which is very cheap nowadays).

So any suggestion for that thing?

It all depends on what the keyword is.. Just look at the word and think of which one would you type into a search engine. Also, think of what the site would be about. hotelreview.xxx well this would be a site with one hotel review as hotelreviews.xxx would be a site about more than one hotel. Really, its not a very difficult decision to decide, its just one of those things where you take the time and say and type the domains and you will hear which sounds most logical.

Maybe 'cause i'm french, but among the mistakes I've made with my domain names is to put a "s" in the first word. Ex : DrugsPrices.com

ExpireGuy will become famous soon enough

For a better indication of keyword use try wordtracker.com to see what users are actually keying into search engines. Unlike Overture which doesn't pluralize, wordtracker does.
Give it a shot, should help especially with the language barrier and it's free.

With the examples you gave, I agree with the others above.
MovieTickets, GreetingCards are better than the singular versions.

But that doesn't mean the singular versions are worthless.
They could be worth a small fortune themselves.

Some domains though are better as singular. Can't think of a suitable example right off.

Maybe, HotelStay.com, I think sounds better singular rather than HotelStays.com.
I'm sure you can come up with a few clearer examples.

I don't see any tool in Wordtracker to check keyword FREEly, looks like you have to pay ;(

I use Overture and there is no plural words, so sometime confuse to decide. For register both singular & plural....too much money for ccTLD.

I need more concrete from more examples, because when comes across with these domain, still not 100% sure though (pls bare with me because I am an ESL person):

weddinggift
wildernessadventure
worldtravel
topcasino
phonenumber
mothercare
buydvd
bestaffiliate
digitalcamerareview

Your opinion about those domain really appreciate it.

I also heard about rhyme in domain selection, less characters is better...what other factors....hmm...
So looks like singular better than plurals than at least 1 char less
Thank you all.

For most of the names you listed, I would probably take any version I can get, either plural or singular. If they were available. Of course you know they are not.

The plural versions would be the more searched terms for MOST of them, naturally, I think.

Here are the estimated number of searches per day from WordTracker:

Both plural and singular good for:
*weddinggifts 1,396
weddinggift 247

*phonenumbers 5,532
phonenumber 1,871

*buydvd 280
buydvds 239

*digitalcamerareviews 5,289
digitalcamerareview 1,932

Singular better for:
worldtravel
mothercare

Plural better for:
topcasinos
wildernessadventures
bestaffiliates

These are just my opinions. And others may choose to differ.

Good luck.

Edwin.
