Someone help me understand this. what is MySQL

Shocked me.

MySQL is simply an open source database. You need a database when you want to store, access, delete, modify data.

So with MySQL installed, you can collect data from your customers for example, save the data, modify them.. and a lot of things.

i see, Ive seen it on my control panel and never used it, sound like it could be quite useful though

It is very useful If you are going to create web applications for your business.
Interact with your customers through your website
Store customer data, order numbers, sales in secure place

Thanks, still a little over my head right now, but i will explore it more, so i can become comfortable with it, hopefully it will become an asset to my business. thanks for the info Ahmed
