IPS Tags

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the right section to post this but i'm looking for some particular information on IPS tags...

Here goes: If i have my own web business and it was called (for example) Bobs Websites... How do i go about getting my own ips tag so i can transfer domains in to me... i.e. how do i get the ips tag BOBSWEBSITES?

I'm not too familiar with this kind of thing but i know that if i own a .co.uk domain name with the IPS tag COMPANY1 and i want to transfer the domain to 'company 2' they would ask me to change the ips tag to COMPANY2 so that it can be transferred in and nameservers pointed to the new hosting...

Hope this makes sense to someone and they can provide me with some feedback and pointers...

You must apply to Nominet for your own tag:
http://www.nominet.org.uk/registrars/

This will allow you to be your own registrar and access the DAC.
There are some fees involved of course but it makes sense if you have a large portfolio of uk domains or want to offer registrations services to clients.
