Where is best place to have email hosted

There is lots of talk lately about stolen domains/ hacked emails, etc.

I am looking to make my email as secure and foolproof as possible. What company has the best service/support/reliability for hosting email?

I am in the US, so looking for a US company that preferably has 24-hour support.

Thanks.

You don't say what the issues are exactly, so it's hard to say if there is a service that will be more secure than another. In general, email is pretty darn secure, but there are a couple of things you can do to make it more secure.

The first one is to use a pop3 account that has a "secure" username. Something like 87UsW9w0fQ2@domain.com. Then create your password for the mailbox to also be something secure with at least one "-" or "!". Using something that is at least 11 characters long makes it very secure.

Then use email forwards to forward things like john@domain.com to your POP3 account. This may be a little more secure, but I mostly do this so that I can change my email address by changing the forward address and then I don't have to change the POP3 account. In any case, having a very secure password is the important thing both for your email and your hosting or registrar account.

If you are worried about the domain, make sure you use the registrant, admin, and billing contacts and have a different email address at a different domain for each. This should make sure that if there are any changes to the domain, you will get a notification and can take some action if needed.
