Follow-up to "Has this ever happened to you?" - WOW

Thanks to everyone who offered their thoughts in response to my first-ever post on this forum. Basically, the consensus was that my domain name registrar had used a "domain taster" to snag the name I had searched for, found available, and then returned to register. This was a combination of two real words that smooshed together formed a made-up brand name ... and I seriously doubt that someone else on the planet had the identical idea on that same day and happened to register it hours after I checked it for availability.

With some regret, I went ahead and registered the same name but with a hyphen between the two words, which in my view isn't nearly as desireable. In fact, I've been kicking myself for spending the money to register the inferior version of the name.

Okay, that was then... Tonight - BOOM - my original pick was was again available. I guess the "taster" decided that my original pick wasn't so hot after all. Of course, I have it now, along with the hyphenated version of the same thing.

Lesson learned? Don't search for available domains on your registrar's website... and make sure you're ready to commit to purchasing the domain you're looking for when you find that it's available. Waiting even a few hours may cost you.
