A buyer approached us to buy our domain name (soundsystem.com) for $3000. We would sell it. We would like to sell it to him, (since he approached us out of the blue and want's it for his business) instead of a oppertunistic bidder for just a few bucks more. We think it's a good name, we would like to get close to top dollar for it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would ask $15K and negotiate from there, that offer was from a domainer, not an end user.

Really? Is that why they call us newbys?

Really? Is that why they call us newbys? It sounded sincere.

Save The Children
Without a doubt, counter-offer him. That is a great name and IMO, it is worth more than $3,000.

If you need the money and feel fine selling it for $3,000 then sell it - otherwise I would hold off for more.

It WAS sincere... any domainer would sincerely like to buy that name for only 3K, ha. I'LL offer you 4K and have it in your bank tomorrow, if you're in that much of a rush. Sincerely. That was a lowball offer, even from a domainer. Rather than here in the newbies threads, put your name up for appraisal in the appraisals section. You'll get a good idea what it's worth.
My appraisal:
from an end user (this name's too good to sell for domainer/reseller price), on an average day it should buy you a nice new car. On a good day, a modest new condo. Depends who makes the bids and how much they want to fight each other for it, if that happens.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/353073-buyer-approached-us-but-offer-fair.html

Be patient. It's a nice name, you'll get a much more hefty price for it than you thought. Do the appraisal thing. Be smart and don't take me up on my offer Should net you anywhere from 20K realistic minimum anywhere up to over 100K or better.

DEFINATELY no lower than $25K. That name is worth its weight in gold, or thereabouts

I'd also say 3000 is too low for this name.

50k...really? Maybe the plural is worth that much but without the 's' it just doesn't make much sense unless its for a club called sound system or something similar.

Please could I ask you...Did this guy mention that you need an appraisal from securenamesale.com? If this is the case and if he says he invests in domains on a sideline its a domain scam he makes money from his securenamesale.com fake appraisal site. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS GUY, HE HAS A REPUTATION!!

If thats not the case, I wish you the best of luck, cause your domain is GOOD!!!

I do find this domain to be worth substancially more than offered. If you are looking to sell, Im sure you would find much better offers than that. Even I would be offering quite a bit more (perhaps 7-9k) depending on a few metrics...

Good luck.

Justin

I have SoundSystem.cc and Soundsystems.cc and I wouldnt sell those for $3K . Dont do it.

Soundsystem gets the traffic , look at the google results.

Soundsystem, com is a Tremendous name. Esibot values it at $165K but We all know thats a estimarte but I think its anywheres from $50K to $80K but developed I think it can hot 6 figures. Do not sell it for less than $25K ( Just incase you need the money).
