.us Domains

What does everyone think of .us domains? There is a decent name for my domain selling business available in .us (not available in .com), but I am a little iffy on .us.

Just wanted to hear everyone's opinions. I really want to stick with the .com, but the .us is available.

In my opinion - .us domain names have some minor appeal, but only if the business is specific to the United States... Now, if Im building a brand, I wouldnt thinka bout building on anything other than .com.

In terms of a Domain Selling business... think about it like this... If you dont own a decent .com domain name to retail your domains with, your portfolio probably isnt worth looking at.....

I highly recommend building your business on a .com

What do you mean by a decent .com domain name? I have a few in mind, but they are nothing special. They would just be <company name>domains.com. I could also do LLLDomains.com, if that would be good. Looking for LLDomains, but not having any luck.

Decent? Go into the aftermarket and snag something memorable. Recently ExtremeDomains.com just sold on NP for $75 (If I remember correctly). I attempted to buy this domain name myself, but one of the mod's beet me too it by less than a minute.

Honestly, dont build your internet business on anything but a .com - and spend the extra dollars to secure a decent name.

Your forgetting about .ORG, IMO if the .com is taken, .org is a very solid extension to build your businesses on.

.us can be good but I don't think it's hot. Not many people know about it and I have never seen any marketing from the registrar.

If you are aiming for the US market only .us might be a good way, also you need to be US American, which you seem to be however.

I am probably going to go .com, if I can find something cheap enough. I found a good <word>Domains.com that was not registered, but it didn't fit with my style. I also looked into Domainville.com and Domainsville.com because I think those are great names, but they are too expensive or unavailable.

I will find one, one of these days.

What's up with that? As much as American's like their television, you'd figure Neustar would put out a commercial or two to raise public awareness and drive business.
