![]() | Are dictionary .com s always worth getting? Hi - i'm just wondering as a relative newbie whether it's pretty much certain that you should take any dictionary .coms you find. I have found 2 which are related to my job which have not been reg's yet. Should i take them??? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's a wonder you're finding a dictionary .com that hadn't been registered yet as most have been taken a long time ago. So your job must be unique/new, in a new category, or you're just very lucky to have found it. Either way get it right away, especially if it's something that you think will have good future attention.

![]() | Thanks for the reply. I'm just not sure where the use for them would be. They're slightly medical terms and I'm not sure where the end user would come from. What the heck, i'll get them - only a few quid each. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Kate has hit the nail on the head. There are many dictionary domains expiring daily and many still available. The issue here is useage. Can anyone or would anyone use a dictionary domain name? Many of the singular premium keywords, absolutely. However there are many rarely used words that are not worth picking up.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I regged componentization.com recently and I think it's worth having. I don't think anyone would buy it from me or any typins, but if I develop a site on it a certain group of people will see it as an authority and it will become a good source of PR for me. You have to decide if it will mean something to a market and if it needs development to bring out that value.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Short, brandable dictionary .com's are almost always brandable - there are plenty of services available that scan/sort dictionary.com's available every day (Some free/some paid). Even short and brandable words that aren't in the dictionary are still good (For example, I was just looking for a domain name that a fellow in CA has - elumni.com - I think it is a brilliant name despite not being in the dictionary). -Allan ![]() (Great article on dictionary words: http://www.worldwidewords.org/articles/howmany.htm )
