![]() | Specific problem - Enom hanging onto a domain I have a client who stupidly let a domain name he had had for years lapse. He had never used it. It has no PR or links. The domain is like www.johndoephtography.com only the name is much stranger. The domain was registered with Enom, and they want to charge him $250 for it which it certainly isnt worth except to him. I wondered if anybody had any suggestions here about what he can do. Like if he left the domain, would it come back on the market and he could buy it? But how could we be sure of getting it? Thanks |

This will only work IF the name drops. if enom sells it on auction before that, it won't be dropped. There could also be competition on backorders from domain tasters.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've had the same thing in the past. I had a domain with Namecheap wich expired then Enom decided to hold on to it and subsequently renew. At some stage it appears the domain was sold to another company. I bought it back from that new owner at a reasonable price (a bit more than the $200+renewal fee Enom was asking). IMO you are not going to see the domain being dropped anytime soon. If the domain has never been used your client could consider registering another domain.

![]() | Thanks for that advice. Doesnt seem very hopeful then. Though I cant see many people being interested in an unlinked-to unvisited barely indexed very particular domain name, I guess it would make sense for Enom to hang onto it for a while just in case my client does bite. And that will be too long for him I guess. |

![]() | I just recently had this happened to a domain of mine! Stupid me I have so many domains that I cannot keep very good track of them. Anyways I register through bulkregister which is now somehow enom and I saw they wanted $200+ to renew my domain. I was sooo happy it was one I could say blah and just let it go. I would have renewed it for $12 bucks or less but over $200 for a name which only I had ever owned/used. I think not! |
