DeletedDomains, DomainsBot or Exody?

I am a newbie on expired domains and decided to ask some help.

There are many services offering lists of expired/soon-to-expire domains. Unfortunately, I'm on a very tight budget. Is it worth to pay $35 to quality services like Exody or DomainsBot or is it a better idea to start free with DeletedDomains for example?

I mean, will Exody or DomainsBot earn the money back to me and offer sth that is worth more than this $35/mo?

Always remember, just because the list states that it is dropping, it doesnt mean you'll be able to catch it. Typically, the domains goto a company like POOL.com where, you then have to bid for the domain.

To give u an example, this happened with MOBILE.NET
The bidding closed at circa $18,000 for the domain.

Nothing wrong with DeletedDomains.com to start with, see if you can turn some domains into $$$ then look at the paid for services

Just my 2 cents.

Paying for information about a domain and catching it are 2 seperate games. Knowing what names have links gives you no edge when its drop time, chances are alot of people knew about the domain before you.

Exody is definately the leader of the pack as far as name lists and information goes. Don't expect any handholding from them as far as how to use the information though.

The membership itsself from Exody or Domainsbot won't earn money for you. You'll have to figure out your own niche on how to put the info to work for you.

DeletedDomains to start with maybe...

And then after a few sales from domains from there...maybe you could invest in a membership...or just start off the bat with a membership, your call .

I was actually thinking about focusing on domains with traffic and building mini-sites on them, not selling the domains. Is it a bad strategy?

But are there places that will "hold my hand"?

UltSearch incorporates basically the same idea and they're doing extremely well. There are domainers as well that make a very good living using the exact same methods. Hope it works out

UltSearch builds mini-sites? I thought they just have a link directory + search engine.

Sorry plugged, I should have been more clear. I was using ultsearch as an example of an online corp that uses traffic successfully. You are correct they are a link directory. Cross simply stated he wanted to focus on domains with traffic for some mini sites. I think he's on the right track, if he incorporates the appropriate traffic to the relevant market.

I think DomainsBot.com is more beginner-friendly. If you try both Exody and DomainsBot and compare them, you'll see what I mean.

I'm not sure you'll find any guide about exactly what to do and what names to go after. The reason is that all domains are one of a kind and being to specific with strategy will make any niche overcrowded. So that's why I say find your own niche.

It could be that you just focus on good real estate related names that you track and catch when they drop, with the intent to turn around and sell them to realtors. Or maybe you go after domains that are listed in Yahoo that used to be developed sites in hopes of capitalizing on existing traffic to them. Those are examples of what I mean.

You can pick up things from hanging around the forum and seeing what works for others.

As free, I found snapcheck.com. Is it a good idea to learn for free with it ? Or DeletedDomains is the best free ?

David.

I would suggest starting off with the free services, give as many of them a try as you can to see which fits your needs best ... everyone has different ideas about what they want out of a service.

Once you have more experience of buying and selling you can use some of the funds generated to ' buy into ' one of the paid services ... by this time you should have a better idea of what you want to do.

In my opinion going for traffic domains is a great way to start, at least you should be able to cover the cost of registering the domains and renewals.

Wishing you all the best

Richard
