Question Getting good domains

I'm quite new to domains but how do people nowadays get good domains? Do you pick up expired ones or do you just get domains that have never been used?

Hi 333,

I have never registered expired domain. What does "how do people nowadays get good domains" mean?

I think to answer this question you need to think about a couple of things. one what is your goal. Some people buy domain names because of the name it self. that's if the name is the right one. Some people buy them because a they will not have to worry about a listing in yahoo or Google. Some people buy a domain name because of traffic or link popularity. I might just get a domain name that never been registered just because it's the right domain for me. or the right domain name might be because it just happen to be the right name but just became expired. their are may reasons to get a new name and may reasons that I might get an expired name as well. it all comes down to what are yo0u trying to get out of your domain name.

Yes, and Yes. Many in the industry use multiple sources. I do the following:

Use backorder services.
Buy at auction.
Search for unregistered or previously expired.
Buy from others here and several other sites.
