| New Member | Am I better off to purchase pronounceable LLLLL.com's that get some form of google result, or gibberish LLLLL.com's that get no google result at all? I suppose it boils to "brandability". Is a puchaser looking for something with no results or something that sounds good. My main reason for asking is that I have compiled a list of highly pronounceable five letter .com's that are obviously available, but get anywhere between 610 and 16500 google results. Thanks AJ Clarification EDIT; I basically know the answer to my original question. Pronounceable is better. Are brandable domains those that get no search results, is a better question I suppose. 2HRS Later EDIT; No opinions? I find that hard to believe. Or I have asked something that I apparently should have known since birth. Last edited by ajinbc; 05-01-2007 at 03:48 PM. |

| VURG | Google results are an indicator of a good name but are often a poor indicator. Google results below 5000, whether 4999 or 602 are virtually the same as it doesn't take much to get 5000 results for a term. For a LLLLL.com, I would be looking for 40,000+ Google results before I took much notice. I've seen LLLLL.com with a few hundred Google results sell for hundreds before. Sometimes the fact that the name has potential and nobody uses it makes it desirable. |

| VURG | If nobody has registered them before, then up till now nobody has valued them to be worth registration fee. There is definately a significant level of risk. Names that the .com is not registered by now are usually rare (probably intensional by parents who want their child with a unique name) and have a very limited market but there could be some gems that some people want the names. I would sooner take a risk with foreign language words. The LLLLL.com that I have noticed gets some interest is the CVCCV.com* domains where the CC combination are one of the following "BB, CC, DD, FF, GG, LL, MM, NN, PP, RR, SS, TT, ZZ". There are still some nice ones available. Most of them have at least one "U" in it. If your speculative investing (buying unregistered names), it is often good to copy others examples as there is more evidence of demand for the names. *C represents Consonant, V represents Vowel. |
