Help! registrar API's

Has anyone tried to make a simple script PHP/.NET/anything utilizing the API provided by companies such as resellerclub that simply just registers a domain?
From my reading it should be possible, I was however a bit overwhelmed by the documentation of resellerclubs API and examples were more geared towards domain name resellers.
So if anyone has a short sweet example I would really appreciate it.
