Spam filters (GoDaddy vs others?)

Hi all, newbie here. I currently have my domain name with GoDaddy, and my emails are forwarded to my Bellsouth address. I have my BellSouth settings to the most lenient so that nothing is supposed to get filtered out. However, I have repeatedly had instances where I do not receive emails from legitimate senders (verified by the sender plus when someone else is on the distribution list too), so I'm guessing it's happening at GoDaddy's level.

My question is, not knowing how domain registrars work, is this in fact happening at GoDaddy before it gets to my Bellsouth name? I'm up for renewal of my name and I don't know if I should switch to another company with better filters, or if such a company exists. Thanks
