you need to be in the US to purchase a .us domain.
why not purchase a .com.au from a major bank. they are about $25aus a year.

Legal US resident or busness having a business address here in the US.

I suppose if you have someone you trust in the US, they could register the domain on your behalf.

Probably because they want a .US domain name.

i've heard that you could reg a .us, but for one of the contacts (admin/tech/etc) has to be someone in the us. i dont remember which one and i'm not too sure if it works or is allowed, as i've never tried. if it doesn't work then you might need someone to actually fully reg it in their name.

I can easily register a .com.au domain name I have a ABN (Australian Business Number) as I have a small business I run (Sold Trader)

I just dont know what the conditions are in order to register a domain name for personal use.

I was trying to take advantage of a SEO domain name only problem is that there is only the crap extensions left. and also the .us domains.

for the .us or .com.au?
well .us alot of people use .us as personal.
so maybe .com.au can be used for personal things.
myholden.com.au wouldn't be a business but they have a .com.au

.us I cannot get from the above answers.

its just the requirement for a .com.au is a ABN number and I am not sure if the domain has to be part of the business or not.
