Question "Premium" Domains

I've noticed a lot of domains these days are being called "premium". There is also something called "certified premium".

It is my understanding that I can call any domain I want premium, right? But I can't call it certified premium unless it has been certified premium. Am I correct?

In addition, what's the big fuss about having a domain certified premium? Who has the authority to label a domain "premium"? Like I said, can't any domain be "premium" if you want to say so?

"premium" domains in the truest since, are domains that are fetching thousands if not millions of dollars at market. The use of the word premium in this particular industry is getting absurd. It is a marketing ploy only for sellers to have another angle to pitch a domain name.

You be the judge as to what is premium or not. PremiumDomains.com is a service that will tell you if your domains are premium based on an algorythm. Can an algorythm tell you if its premium? Nope. For example, I had a domain name that scored low on their algorythm, but I sold just this month for 3k.

What does that tell you about their service? Its not entirely accurate. Dont worry about using the word premium in a listing, its almost mandatory now a days. Take everything with a grain of salt, unless its a hard fact.
