Need to sell domain, help!

hi

I'm a bit short of money at the moment, so i've decided to sell of a couple of my domain names, the ones i have no intention of developing anymore. The problem is that i've never actually sold one before, and i'm not sure how the whole process works, I don't want to find a buyer then end up messing them about because i don't know what i'm doing.

The part that i'm unsure about the most is how i actually transfer the domain to the buyers name with my registra. The domains are were registered with 1and1 and i've read that they aren't the best to use when it comes to this sort of thing.

can anyone shead some light on this for me?

Thanks alot

If the buyer has an account with the same registrar as you do, then you can simply "push" the name over. However, if the buyer has an account with a different registrar, the buyer would have to initiate the domain transfer with their registrar.

Once the domain transfer has been initiated by the buyer, you'll receive an email asking for your confirmation.

thanks for the info, that helps alot.

Is the "push" bit easy to initiate, would the buyer have to supply me with account number or something like that?

also, is paypal usually used as payment for these things?

thanks

*EDIT* also, where is the best place to try and sell them?

Yes the push is very easy. You should be able to do it from your admin at your registrar site. I'm not sure about every registrar, but usually you just need the buyer's username.

Pushes are free at most registrars. Domain transfers between registrars will cost a transfer fee which is usually the registration cost.

In regards to selling domains, there are many places to sell them. Namepros, Digital Point, eBay, Sedo, etc...

The push is not easy from a 1&1 account I am sorry to say. Its not free either.
I have sucessfully transferred a name to GoDaddy, and it can take about a week. Hope this helps!
