GoDaddy..."annoyance"

Hi all,

Ok so i registered zluf.com tonight, being careful as to not visit the url before purchasing, changing NS and parking to avoid not being able to visit it until it had propagated (this always works).

1st thing i notice: This hasn't worked...i can't load the URL. So i take the initiative and try to visit the domain using a proxy..surely this will work right? No joy...

I then tried changing NS to another host and parking it there, again no joy and the domain doesn't load...

I then notice i am having the exact same problem with another domain in my account- FFHH.info

I have emailed GD for support, but my question is this: What the hell is going on?

(p.s. This is 100% not a propagation issue, confirmed by others and by using a proxy).

that happened to me the other day
i reged a site, then changed the ns, then went and had a look and it was the parked sites page, i think there's a alittle delay of a few minutes at least after reg before the ns changes go though - i had the same thing happen

What happened to you is normal, it happens to everyone. My problem is the domains (one new and one fairly old and untouched recently) are now not resolving full stop

It's almost as if, dare i tempt fate, GoDaddy has suspended the 2 domains...

Update:

GoDaddy responded to my message, which an ever helpful plea for me to wait 48 hours for the problem to resolve before contacting them...

We shall see tomorrow morning...Something ust doesn't add up IMO, i would have accepted the wait for the newly registered .com but since the .info is also seemingly inactive i am very...suspicious, if that's the right word.

dns is an odd thing.

Check with dnsstuff.com to see what is being resolved. Often ISP's cache DNS for 2-3 days or even longer depending on TTL. I have had DNS change anywhere from immediately to a full week. One thing you can try...

edit your hosts file in C:\windows\system32\etc\hosts (I think that's it) and add the DNS entry for the site. This will at least allow you to access the site in case it's your ISP that's the cache DNS problem.

looks like your ns1.portfoliosp.com and ns2.portfoliosp.com servers are gone fishing, and your stealth ns315/6.websitewelcome.com are kicking in to substitute them.

DNS is beyond odd lol.

Zluf.com has started working over night, which is great. I had left ffhh.info with incorrect domain forwarding so that does not work this morning however i can only assume with a little fiddle it will.

GD email support is actually not bad Obviously there is a delay but can't complain about the support given.

Also - Slowdaddy doesn't promise anything before 24-48 hours when you submit changes like NS

I know I don't even try to set them up on my host for a while if I win something reg'd there

Well, it's always worth a try

I have used GoDaddy for a while and this is actually the firm time i have had a problem. Certainly nothing has ever taken more than an hour or so for me, even then i could use a proxy.

edit: ffhh.info has just started working

Officially DNS has to take anywhere from 48 to 72 hours to resolve. You are lucky that Godaddy is able to push your dns/ns changes in 10 max 30 mins in US and about 2 -6 hours to most of the world.
At my previous registrar it took anywhere from 24 to 72 hours just to forward a domain name to somehwere else.
