It really depends on your host's condition on addon domains.
Most hosts allows you to though.

If your host enable the addon domain then you can add any domain you want.

Yes, it is a completely different site but with the same ip..

Bluehost.com let's you have one domain and an additional 5 add on domains for the same hosting price.

don't add=on domains have the content loaded on a subdomain of the original domain? so that www.newdomain.com will redirect to newdomain.olddomain.com? if it does then it messes up with site stats (such as alexa) doesn't it?

Many hosts allow you to have add-on domains. Shop around as prices vary. Godaddy offers unlimited add-on domains even on its cheaper hosting packages for example.

How they and most hosts get you when they offer unlimited add-on domains is with limiting your sql databases. Now that doesn't matter if all you have is static sites!

Your question does mention 'free' though, as in you want an outright free host that allows this. This i don't know, but you can get a year's worth of hosting with many companies with limited (or high threshold) add-on domains for less than $100 per year. The free hosts would probably just have you open new user accounts for each domain you want to add.

Subdomains differ from add-on domains in that a subdomain is just that - sub.mydomain.com or subs.mydomain.com etc. Add-ons are just extra domains on your hosting package. you set them up with their own separate directories and they act like a top level website - ie - mydomain.com and myextradomain.com

I liked awardspace.com that allows php+mysql + no ad.
