Use online keyword tools like the google adwords and overture tools to get an idea of the search-volume to cpc ratio for your keywords.

Once you have chosen some keywords and phrases, go to the search engines (google, yahoo, msn, ask, etc) and do some searches using those keywords and phrases. Look at how the highest ranking results are displayed for each search, the title, description, etc.. Then visit each site and look at how the keywords and phrases are integrated into that page and how they compare to the search results description. View the source, look at the title, meta tags, img and link titles, content, etc. This will give you an idea of what the search engines are looking for.

As far as specifics for your site. Content.

You have only a couple of sentences of content on your main page. A few keywords packed into a few sentences is not going to score any points with any SE.

Titles are your friend. Be more descriptive in the link titles you have and add titles to the links that don't have them. Mix the keywords up. You have a lot of repeated phrases in those titles, a SE may see that as spam and ignore them.

Always be on the lookout for places where you can use relevant keywords. Instead of "Latest Layouts" use "Latest MySpace Layouts" or "Latest MySpace Profile Layouts". "Latest Profile Icons" -> "Latest MySpace Profile Icons".

For instance:

Quote:
<h2>Welcome</h2>
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/288297-tips-on-search-engine-optimization.html
To MySpace4YourPage.com, your place for MySpace codes.
May work better as

Quote:
<h1>Welcome To MySpace 4 Your Page</h1>
Your place for MySpace codes, layouts, backgrounds, generators, and more...->(about 200 more words of content)
No 1 thing is going to work magic, you will need to work at it. Especially in your market, you have a lot of competition. I wouldn't rely on SE traffic alone, get out there and spread the word (but don't spam).

Patience and trust worked for me. I created good content and wasn't trying to make a million dollars in 30 seconds. After two years and some pretty simple tweaking, I show up great.

Unique content rich with the keywords you are targetting. I use the Google Keyword tool to determine which keywords I should selectively use in my blog posts and articles.

Anything by Aaron Wall is good

www.seobook.com

Jill Whalen's site is good as well

http://www.highrankings.com/

The core of SEO is good site design. I'm talking about site structure and how search engine friendly your directory structure is not how good it looks.

Guys, it's me replying to all posts. I really appreciate all of your words of wisdom. I have followed up everyones advise and I have changed lots on my website now. I now have included tags on all of my MySpace generators, and this week will include tags on every page. I have chosen targeted keywords and my hits have gone up! The site was started on 27th January 07 and I now have had over 100,000 page impressions. If anyone else owns a MySpace resource site and is a beginner like me, I really recommend researching SEO (search engine optimization) It is a long and daunting task, but is well worth it in the end! Think about targetted keywords, target your traffic from a specific place, include lots of unique content e.g. I made a few generators like (textarea generator, hyperlink generator, font/color generator, linking image generator) They all seem pointless, but most myspacers which includes over 500,000,000 members don't know how to do these things! Research and patience is the key to a successful website. Hopefully, mine one day will be a 'successful site.' I hope this helped someone! If anyone else wants to contact me, you can email me here: mail@myspace4yourpage.com

The major keys: good content, lots of it, and relevant links

Check out:
seomoz.org
seobook.com

SEO isn't a big mystery, it's pretty basic, but can be a lot of actual work.

I'll third SEObook.com, the ebook as well as the blog. The rest of the stuff I found by Googling and reading forums, I think. Take your time and make small changes, a bit at a time, you'll see good results.
