okey first time i'm going to reg a domain name
was wondering if any1 could help me out a bit,
got a name in mind,
but need to know, where's the best place to reg a domain? want to pay with paypal..
what do I need to know?
saw some threads here, people reg domains for 7-8,95$?
is it the same as for instance eNom?

might sound bit stupid, but it's the Domain Newbie section right

For a first time regger, you can't go wrong with any of the more popular registrars like enom (and their big resellers dotster, namecheap, etc.) or godaddy. This way if you have questions there are many on this forum who can help you.

A couple of options available to you.

Do it yourself at namecheap.com for 8.88 or regfly (can't remember how much. Both accept paypal for one off reg's as far as I can remember

Or, I can reg it for you for 7.95 at enom. You can then do it two ways, I can set you up with an 8.95 reseller account but the catch is that you would have to fill your account with $100 if you wanted to reg more yourself. If you don't want to do that, then all you need to do is go to enom and sign up for a free account. Then you can pm me the name and paypal me the 7.95 - I will reg it for you and push (transfer it into) your account.

If you wish to go eNom, you can also ask for an enom retail account from within this forum, and I'm sure there are several who can help you. A retail account does not require prepayment, and can let you reg for lower than the standard $8.95 reseller.

For example, from me!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/28229-registerring-a-new-domain.html

I see that you're located in NL, and since I have personal relations with that lovely country, I am offering you a *free* $8.14 Enom retail account which does not require an initial $100 refill. That's the lowest, non-profiting retail pricing I am able to offer and it is not usually free. If interested, simply fill out the form (no need to pay) at http://www.b50.net/enom.htm or send your info via PM. If you're not in NL, then the price goes up to $8.45!

Tot ziens!

tnx for the help!

but still don't understand something..
i made an account at enom, was looking for a freedomain name, but if I reg it there, it'll cost me $29,95... why do people reg it for $7-8 then? how do you make profit on that..?

just want a normal domainname for own use, no reselling it or anything
tnx!

@maximus: from NL yeh

Reason for this is that enom provide different types of accounts - retail and reseler ones. The Dr and I have reseller accounts that we have paid a fair bit of money for that allow us to reg domains at a really low price. We make our money by people taking either their own reseller accounts from us or registering domains for people. Enom has a free 'push' system whereby we register the name and then 'push' it into someone else's enom account (only free between enom-enom)
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=28229

If you sign up for an account at enom just by going to their site, then to reg a domain costs 29.95. This is so that enom doesn't compete against their own resellers!

As it is your first domain, if you want I will do a special once only reg at cost of $6.95 - the only thing I ask in return is a translation of a phrase into Dutch for me!!

(provided its one of the standard TLD's, like .com etc)
