Free Domain Names

Hi. I was wondering if there are ANY sites at all that provide free domain names.

I don't mind if it has a bunch of ads, and I don't mind filling any surveys out, as long I don't have to put a credit card number in anywhere.

- A side note: This has probably been posted about before, but at domains.aol.com, you can get a free email address, like you@thenameyouwant.com.

Well it says on their that creating a website with your new domain name is coming soon.. does that mean free domains? I guess we'll have to wait and see...

you would be better off registering a domain of your own, most sites that offer "free" domains are free because they arnt very good.

Aside from that, you can also try snapping up some domain names sold on NamePros for NP$ - I know it's not free, but it's still better than handing over real cash. Also, NamePros offers domain registration services for about 425 NP$ - it's not that hard to earn if you head over to the NP$ incentives forum and see what the people there have to offer.

yes if u dont want to put up ur credit card number the only good way to get free domains is namepros u are able to get np$ in various ways easy to earn and then after u earn 425np$ u get to register ur own domain via np system thats the most easiest way good luck.

There are also a few forums that offer free domains. But you have to refer members or post. Check in the advertising and contest area for some of these.

That is called a redirect...you dont have control over it like you would a domain name.

OK seriously, domain name is the most important part of your site

If you plan to invest at least your time you can spend 7-8 bucks to get a real name
If not go get a free url under the name of various web hosting companies and you will be ok

As blunt as that sounds. I have to agree. Domains are cheap. If you are afraid of giving out a credit card number do what I do:
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/277154-free-domain-names.html

Use Paypal (I don't own a credit card). Open an account with them and put some cash in it by selling stuff or doing online work (logos, etc). Then spend it on domains.

Or go to www.iDotSource.com and make enough posts once you get 200 points you get a free domain of your choice. Theres also contests to speed the process up.

If you don't have Paypal or a credit card, I'd suggest looking around for a Visa or American Express gift card. They can be as little as $25 and can be used exactly like a credit card, and are ideal for buying things online without a credit card. That's how I bought my iPod, phone, clothes, and scores of other things.

I remember being in your position, and I didn't have this option because I wasn't aware of it. Go to a convenience store and grab a Visa Gift Card.

or find a domain reseller/registrar to accept e-gold (and also a way to fund your e-gold account with at least 7-8 bucks)

or moneybookers (you can make bank deposit using this service if you don't have a cc)
