typo newbie

ok, i have never tryed typo domains yet, but my hands started to itch to get couple of them.
i dont know much about typos, so i am learning. so far i found a typo of one very premium generic word, which is not registered. i made some research on this typo word . here are the results: ovt on word with and without extension 0, google on "typo word" 18000, "real word" - hundreds millions.
i need opinion please, if it worth to register. or may be you can tell me some other more usable places to check how it is possible to have 0 on ovt, but that much on google.
any advice would be appretiated. thanks

It's possible to have that many google results without any overture results due to webmasters who purposely include typos in their copy in an effort to rank for those typo search terms.

Many times surfers don't actually make a particular typo mistake but some webmasters cover all their bases by included all the possible typos.

Take a close look at the google results. Do you see other typos for the "generic" term appearing in the same pages? That's your clue that it's a deliberate typo.

It's possible but not likely. The two things aren't related at all but if enough searchers are typing "something.com" into the search window than odds are "something.com" isn't availabe to register.
