| New Member | Associated email address Hello, I have a very important problem. I have some domains registered with registerfly. Not many domains but this domains are very important for my business. I have associated a yahoo mail account to my registerfly account. My problem is that now my yahoo account doesn't work. It show always a "temporary error" but since more than one month. I have written several mails to the yahoo technical support but they always send "standard emails" or don't reply without solve my problem. Some of my domains will expire in a week and, in registerfly, when I renew old domains, is made a transfer from the old registerfly servers to the new and it require a email confirmation (like a standard transfer). And yahoo's technical support doesn't exist!!! The worst support service ever seen. My question is if there is some manner to change the associated email of my registerfly account to other email address without have access to the current associated email address. If I change this email address in my registerfly account I will need confirmation from the old email address? Please, can you help me? This domains are very very important for me. My complete business and my work over 5 years or more depends of it. Thanks in advance! Regards Last edited by javi_bus; 12-02-2006 at 03:55 AM. |

| It's MACHINE code. | Hey javi_bus, From what I gathered, you have an email like you@yourdomain.com where yourdomain.com is registered at RegisterFly. Here's what you need to do: You can get free email hosting at http://domains.live.com/ Just type in your domain and it will walk you through the steps of setting up the email account you@yourdomain.com Once you update the settings in RegisterFly, all emails will then go to your address hosted with domains.live.com By the way, once you get this all sorted out I'd recommend transferring that domain elsewhere. RegisterFly is nothing but trouble. Good luck! |

| New Member | Thanks slider and sufi!! I believed that email confirmation was necessary but no. I'm solving my problem now. Thank you very much!! Besides, I'm having problems with registerfly. I can't update whois info for one of my domains and it doesn't work (I was updating the whois of it when the system logoff me without reason and when I try again, the domain doesn't work). It appears in my control panel but doesn't work . I'm going to write soon a pm to Regfly and I hope this is solved. As soon as posible I'm going to transfer my domains to other registrar but, what registrar you recommend me? GoDaddy? I need security. I don't have many domains but this are very important for me. And other question: I have seen that free mail accounts are not trustworthy (gmail, yahoo...) You recommend me to associate an "internal" mail address like something@mydomain.com (I have my own server)? Or I must associate an "external" domain=free mail account? I'm sorry my bad English. Thank you very much for all!! You have saved me!! |

| Senior Member | GoDaddy is nolonger my favourite domain registrar, i suggest moniker for domain security registrar. You can even get a 6.95 priced account. Check the offer forum. Here the link http://www.namepros.com/for-sale-adv...hlight=moniker |

| NamePros Expert | I use Godaddy, NameCheap & DomainSite and never had any problem. Its always good to use your own email address over the free ones like hotmail/yahoo/gmail. For your own domain email (you@yourdomain.com), you need to host your domain with some hosting company (You dont need a whole server, you can get shared hosting very cheap), then create your email address through cpanel and access via Outlook Express. |

| New Member | Ok. Thanks again. I have created an account with moniker and written an email to Donald Lyons (member of this forum) to request the forum discount. As soon as posible I will transfer my main domain to it and after of it I will transfer the other domains. I hope that everything becomes without problems. I don't want to lose the domains during the transference. And about the associated email address, I'm going to put an "internal" address for all the domains. I don't need shared hosting because in my current business we are using two servers. I have many own emails addresses for some of the domains. Then I'm going to use one of them for all domains and, maybe other for the choosed domain. Example: domain1.com => webmaster@domain2.com domain2.com => webmaster@domain1.com domain3.com => webmaster@domain1.com I have seen that, for security reasons, moniker have available the email confirmation of important changes. Then I have to decide what email address to use as main and guarantee that it work always. The only problem I see is if I choose to use as associated email the webmaster@domain1.com and domain1.com fail for some reason that must be solved confirming from the associated email address. I'm going to buy an additional domain => domain1.es (extension for Spain) because this domains are more protected and I think that once it is registered for a company it can't be stolen because one registry says that it is from our company and I will put a webmaster@domain1.es as associated email address for moniker account. I hope this works well. Thanks to everybody for your very usefull help!! Regards Javier |
