3 Letter Domains

Why are 3 letter domains so popular. even if it is just like 3R5. I am just curious why these bring decent money.
Thanks
Tim

They bring decent money due to their very high search rankings, and being very easy to type so many people would be getting back to your sites, and the probability of typing in a 3 letter domain and reaching your site is more than that of a 5 or 6 letter domain.

Shorter domains, are easier to type, remember and spell than longer domains. They are also more international than say, English words, as the are multi-lingual. Also, they can often form acronyms and occasionally you may luck out- imagine you had bought mp3.com or ps3.com before they were "real" products etc.

Because they are scarce, easy to type, memorable, and can often be used as acronyms.

By the way, I own 3R5.com. Sorry, couldn't resist!

All 3 character .com domains are sold out.

I own a 3 letter.info but I don't think it's worth anything.
