Well friend You have made a great start landing in the right section for your questions.

If you have any particular question then you can browse to that section and read some threads it will give you some input on that subjects. I would have given you advices but there are so many factors and dimensions in domaining that all cannot be mentioned here.

The most easy and best way to get some tips is to read the threads. Ask for help as you asked right now. Or search the forums for your particular query that you have. [This one is better so you don't have to wait for others to answer]

Thanks.

Like Nick said, read, read and read threads. It will really help you out. Figure out if you will be investing in domains longterm, resell domains, and/or develop websites. Also know how much you can spend to start off with. It doesn't have to be much; if any. You can do np incentive offers to earn np to register a domain. If you have any specific questions then let us know. I find it very important for you to research before you buy! Do not go make a ratical move without first thinking it through and knowing more about it. You would not move to the North Pole just because someone told you it is nice there so don't do it with domains either. I hope that helps, again let us know if you have any questions!

Yep, all sound advice ^^^

Read through the forums, read everything you can, especially the opinions of succesful, experienced members - not just ones who are opinionated. Don't rush into registering any domains, purchase domain research tool too - one of the best $150 or so I ever spent (I think you can get cheaper too).
You should see quickly that "fresh reg" names which sell for good profits are few and far between - this is a marketplace, so don't be afraid to purchase names - you must appreciate that there are very, very, very few .coms worth registering now. Best advice, undeniably though, is just to read and read these forums.
