![]() | -NOOB- How do u keep up with reg.fees? Hi I just stumbled on the whole domain name world as a learning webmaster. I went to create a domain name, get it hosted and build a site with sub-domains to practice my web design skills but then..... Well I purchased a domain name for $5 on Godaddy and ever since I have been browsing the web for everything and anything about buying/selling/branding/registering DN. I am puzzled as I want to play too now and own some of these DN. I would like to buy 1 or 2 cheap DN a month to start. Questions now: How do you make a buck on a domain name since every year it doesn't sell you have to register it and incur the fee? What about people (Wanabees?) that have 20, 50, 100 or more, do they go broke? Lose them? Being a future web designer can I use my own skills to develop web site with domain names I purchased? How do you get traffic and get paid? How do you guys make money on your domain names to at least pay the annual registration fees as I read here? ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/255888-noob-how-do-u-keep-up.html Any links are very welcome too. Thanks a lot Patrick |

![]() | There are many ways to make money with your Domain Names. 1. You start a web site that sells a product or service. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=255888 2. You buy the Domain Name and you sell it for more then what you bought it for on sites like sedo.com, afternic.com, 1plus.net, even on Godaddy.com. 3. This is one that many use; You get an account with Google's Adsence and develop an info site and make money with the traffic that gos to your site and clicks on the adds. 4. Now if your Domain Name has natural traffic, traffic from people typing into their browser a word that matches your Domain Name, then you could just park it at a site that pays you for the clicks that this traffic causes. Like Sedo.com and the others that I have listed above. You want to buy Domain Names that are going to help you in some way. For example; If your going to have an info site about birds then you might buy a domain name like birds-bird.com, this way many search engines will rank you higher because your domain name has your key word in it. You can make money with Domain Names but your going to have to promote them. It is getting harder every day but read a lot and try different things. I can say for a fact that people do make big money with their Domain Names, but they work real hard promoting them and developing their sites. The days when you registered a Domain Name and just got rich are gone, why? Because those types of domain names are all taken. Names like loans.com which Bank of America paid 3,000,000.00 Dollars for because it got great natural traffic. Just think about the gold mine word "hosting.com". It's taken, don't bother checking. There are still a lot of Domain Names that the search engines like because most people buying domain names don't know much about web sites and search engines. But that's changing fast so get moving, because search engines still offer free advertising, that's free money for who ever takes it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nice post guyhosting I've got 1-2 suggestions for you too, Patrick. Educate yourslef If you want get into the domain business, then I suggest that you register in other forums as well besides namepros(dnforum, domainstate), and read as much as possible BEFORE attempting to buy a domain name. There is a golden rule in this business, that sais that when you buy domains for the first time, you almost certainly buy useless names. The reason is that you are not educated enough to have an idea of what has some value and what doesnt. So I suggest that you read alot before you move on to buying. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=255888 Revenue by parking: If you are going to look for domains that receive traffic, you can either look for domains that receive generic traffic such as flashgames.com, or typos (typing errors) of other domains that receive high traffic. Good typos of traffic domains receive spill over traffic from the actual domains. A good indicator of traffic is "overture", and I suggest that you run a search in the forums for this term, and educate yourself around it. A good tool to find unregistered typos, is stypo(stypo.com). You must also relize that when you register a domain for 7$, if you park it and earn as little as $0.02 per day on average, your domain will make slightly more than $7 per year, thus it pays for itself and is worth keeping. For a $7 registration, anything making more than 2cents/day is worth keeping. Remember that, because many domainers dont get it. Finding end users An end user is a person or a company who needs a domain for development, and is usually ready to pay more than a domain reseller for your name. A good strategy to sell names, is to activly look for end users instead of just waiting until someone decides that he needs your domain(which might never happen). There is a GREAT thread about this strategy, don't miss it! (http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-...end-users.html) There are some more things that I want to tell you, but I will continue via PM. Hope this helped, Petros

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | you also need to evaluate yourself: are u better at webdesign or are u better at name picking? Depends on your natural strength you may want to leverage on your skills and focus on the right things. |

![]() | cache If someone can give me the answer to your question, that would make my life easier on deciding which one to focus on primarily. I think to start I can learn about domain buying and when I start purchasing some, get them hosted and build sites on them, put adds, banners, get traffic and so on.... Patrick |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Grow slowly and let the cash flow pay for it. buy only what you can afford to lose. When you make a good sale, take 25% the proceeds to renew other domains, 25% for new names, and hold the rest back for income, taxes, slow times. You'll probably find that if you learn to pick names well, your portfolio will double every year and cash flow from sales and parking will cover the costs. May people do go hog wild at the start and then can't make the payment at renewal time. If it weren't for those types, I wouldn't have half the domains I have now.
