Why do people hate 1&1, Netfirms, etc?

I've seen most people hate those three sites. What do they have in common?

I have never been with them, and I'm wondering if I could hear your sad story with them.

PS. I'm with NameCheap, and Domainsite. No problems so far.

1&1 if I am right use to close account for no reason and steal the domain names. maby someone who has had this happen to them can comment on the subject.

I like Domainsite, cheap for some obscure ccTLDs if you like that sort of thing, and got my IDN domains registered there.
Can't really comment on Namecheap, only have a couple of pushed domains there so far.

1&1 (UK) have caused me no problems as of yet, although I only buy UK domains from them as they do not offer free push.

Edit for a likkle grammar error

I'd suggest using the "Search" function at the top of the page. You should be able to find out MORE than enough to help you understand. Also search for oneandone and one&one as they are variations on 1&1.

We could reformulate the question like this:
Why do they hate their customers

Most often it boils down to poor customer service, unreliable system, double billing, arcane procedures (especially when transfering away) etc etc.

1+1=Pain in the ass

Simple as that - Hosting wise, please please please avoid them like you would a speeding bullet heading straight for your head. If I started listing the problems I have had with them in the last 5 days alone, I would wear out the keys on my keyboard.

I've used 1&1.co.uk for three years and they've been excellent.

most of the problems come from transfering domains or automatic renewals. If you don't do that, you may not have a big problem.

stay away from 1+1
the control panel is crap.
communications are crap.
internal transferring is crap.
avoiding renewals is crap.
why bother with their nonsense when godaddy, namecheap and moniker will give you a better experience as a domainer.
learn from others' heartaches.
they are awful. full-stop.
