![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Try not to have the hyphen. I believe it brings less of a value. And "Dont" seems to be more often used in the English language when written or spoken vs "do not"- its more of a formal thing I guess. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | May I ask why you want "don't" or "do not" in a domain name? There are lots of two word dot coms still available so it sounds strange to read that someone is going to make a sentence like domain name. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Example, DoNotUseAcme.com DontUseAcme.com Do-Not-Use-Acme.com Dont-Use-Acme.com That's a tough one. Are you building a site that will be marketed offline as well as online? If all the traffic is coming from search engines, you can use pretty much any domain. Go with the one that looks best to you. If you expect to have a lot of return visitorship, type-ins, or offline visitors, then you have to consider memorability and typo possibilityes. "Dont" is missing the apostrophe, and I wouldn't want people to be typing the invalid domain Don'tUseAcme.com. That would make me consider using 'DoNot' instead for a site that reaches a large market. It wouldn't hurt to register all of the variations too. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | DoNotSpam.com or DontSpam.com The 2nd one sounds better when spoken but doesn't look right and like RJ mentioned: may not get entered properly. In my example above I like the "do not" but I would probably register both (unfortunately these are not available...but the .info and the .biz are). ST

I plan on targeting offline traffic (business cards, flyers, direct mail). And the domain name would be a part of my marketing message. I could easily register something without "donot", but I want to be consistent. It will be easier for my market to remember the message and the website. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/238729-do-not-vs-dont-in-domain.html An online marketing campaign will follow later. | ||||

![]() | It probably depends on the rest of the name. "Do Not" is a lot stronger than "Dont", ie DoNotForget.com sounds more like an order, whereas DontForget.com sounds more like a reminder. OTOH, DoNotSpam.com sounds better than DontSpam.com IMHO. So it would depend on the actual usage and what sort of message you want to convey. Of course, If possible get both name and redirect one to the other. |
