Question about sales on forums

Hi.. I am getting ready to list a few names but I am a bit nervous about selling directly and have a few questions.

1. Does most of the communication go on via PM ? I see lots of for sale threads but little in the way of replies.

2. Any tips on how not to get scammed when not using an escrow service ?

Pretty simple. If you would like to receive offers via PM, mention that on your sales thread. If not, you will get offers for your domains on your thread.

The best way not to get scammed when selling domains on thread's is to use escrow. it's there to protect both the buyers and sellers.

Do you use escrow for low dollar names as well ? A lot of my names I believe are worth less than $100

1. PM sales are common. I know just about everytime I put up a thread I get offers through PM. A lot of people don't like to have dollar amounts out in public because they may sell the name at a later date for a higher price.

2. Just be open to any potential warning signs. I was blessed to have some early warning signs in a deal that I did; it turned out the guy was a scammer and the only trouble he caused me was a negative Paypal balance since I had removed some of the money. I didn't lose the name or anything.

With your last question; it depends. I've never done an escrow deal and I've sold domains and sites up to high $xxx and low $xxxx. In most cases, the individuals have known me well enough and vice versa. I'd say the general rule of thumb for escrow is about the $500 mark. If I'm doing a deal with someone I don't know, I'd definitely go Escrow at that point.

If you don't know the buyer you have 50-50% changes to get scammed
Some forums like Namepros have trader rating (like the one you see in SwampFox). It works like ebay rating, so this is a quite good, effective and cheap way to rate your buer-seller

If you didn't use escrow the reply is simple ... lost your money
