I have 64 names...now what?

I have purchase 64 names and spent quite a bit of money. I'm worried that a year will pass and then I will have to pay that money again to extend the registration!

What do I do now? I hear two things... Selling the Names on AfterNic, Sedo, GreatDomains... What if the name only sells for $10. Will I lose money? It seems like I read about some $60 minimums.

Other people say "develop it" . To me this is intimidating. I can make websites with NetObjects Fusion but it takes a lot of time to make a website. And I'm not sure I can easily get all that "good content" I hear is a must.

I just can't let all my names go to waste and expire. Is there any place to go and learn?

Let names drop that are worthless. Consolidate. I have a couple of good names, but I never get a bite. Sometimes, you just have to let them go. You can always transfer them somewhere else to save money or parked them and see if they pay for themselves.

Someone tell me more about mini-sites. How much money do they make per month? Are there only certain types of sites that are worthwhile?

Hold on to the good ones, and try to get them developed, focus on at a time!
Do not sell a good domain in a hurry, just because you do not know what to do with it.

My tip is to outsource the development of the websites to some programmer from India or such, you can get a nice fully developed webiste very very cheap.

If they are good names, then somebody somewhere will want them. Don't let a good name expire. Pay for the renewal and give yourself another year to sell. Use the proceeds from your sales to put back into your domains.

Ya, agree with this.

If you have good names don't let them drop, renew them year after year. IMO a good name will eventually find a buyer.
As for the crap let them drop and consolidate.
I would suggest registering names that have some meaning and are usable (sounds obvious but isn't really) and that you could actually use for your own purpose if you don't sell.
If you don't have the time to develop park your names and concentrate on the best one, those that can make you some money (to pay off for the others )
You need some cash flow to pay the reg fees after all

Why not post your names for appraisal so we can give you some ideas, or possibly post them for sale

are you kidding me? you reg 64 names with no idea what to do with them, and my guess is that very few of them are of any quality at all, i hate to sound harsh but you need a wake up call. go and do some research, see what does and does not sell, think about what you would like to do with the names that you register. To many people think domains are another "get rich quick" industry, while some people do, they are very FEW and i mean very FEW and far in between. To many people do not do their research and start domaining becuase of how cheap and easy it is to get into and then flood the market with cheap low quality names. I respect you for the effort you are putting in, but you seriously need to take 2 steps back and do some research, and decide what you are going to do and what direction you want domaining to take you, because in all seriousness you are not going to buy 64 domains, sell them for 100 each and keep building, it just does not work like that.

Hate to disagree, but that's exactly how I've built my portfolio

it really depends on the quality of the domains, though.

Let's not forget there's a learning curve... we learn by our mistakes and by the mistakes of others too. I regged some crap or not-so-great domains in the beginning...

Also, I do not know about the names of Gdave, perhaps they are good.
Saying that, I agree that some domainers need a wake-up call and there are too many names posted for appraisal that are worth nothing IMO.
You have to reg names that mean something
After all it's OK to make mistakes provided you learn fast and don't repeat the same errors later
