Few questions regarding sale and transfer

1) Does transferring domain names go through the company it was registered through?

2) Is there a specific payment option that is generally more popular ie. paypal?

3) What ere the possible ways of getting scammed in this market?

4) Is getting your domains professional appraised really a big deal?

5) How would you transfer files for a developed domain for sale?

Thanks in advance,

John

1)generally you can push a domain name to the new owner for free as long as they register a free account at whatever register you bought them from, if they insist on moving the domains to a different register then this would usually cost 1 years registration to move them but would add 1 year to their expiration.

2)paypal is common for low end domain/site sales, look to escrow.com for anything worth more than you can't get over losing as paypals fraud protection is limited.

3)chargebacks after payment

4)no, a domain is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it, be careful of scammers wanting you to get domains appraised and then they will buy, if they really want to buy they can pay for the appraisal as well.

5)just hand them the login to cpanel or whatever control panel you use and they can swap the site to their server, after payment clears of course.

That is often not recommended , ok if you totally trust the buyer .

either way works, if the site is sold and you are handing a login to a shared hosting account for 5 minutes for them to swap it over you should be fine, if worried that the buyer is shaddy then yes zip it up and send.
