![]() | Unlock and transfer? or transfer while locked? Hi, I have a quick question. We always engage registrar lock on every domain name we have. When I transfer domains, I always unlock the Registrar Lock, then I proceed to transfer. Do I have to unlock the domain AND transfer every time? What happens if I forget to unlock and submit transfer? |

![]() | If you forget to unlock the domain the transfer will be denied by the registry. You will effectively have to reinitiate the transfer a second time. Alternatively depending on the registrar you use you may get a notice that you cannot request the transfer unless the domain is "unlocked." I would suggest that leaving the lock on is an important safe guard and then just unlock it each time. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you use GoDaddy, you can submit a domain transfer request without having to unlock the domain. Once the domain has been transferred, all the personal details of the previous owner will be lost and the new owners details will be used. |
