Red face Help a newbie out

Hi, I'm going to purchase my first domain in a couple of days (as soon as I figure out a good name).

Now If I buy a domain from Namepros, can I leave it there? and for how long?. Can I set up an email and read/reply on Namepros?

I keep hearing about parking domains, and Sedo. When I buy a domain, can I move it there? will it cost me money? and like before how long + emails on Sado

Is Sado the best or are there better ones?

sorry for all the questions, Iv been reading through the FAQ, and am a little unclear on a few thing, hearing it from you guys hopefully will clear things up.

thanks

Yes, you can leave it here. How long? Well, 1 year. Then the domain will come up for renewal, which you will either have to renew (add more years) or it will expire and be dropped.

You can set up email forwarding for the domain... where e-mail sent to that domain will be sent to your specified address.

Yes you can "move" it there. To park a name at sedo you will have to either use URL forwarding, or set the domain to their nameservers.. Using their parking service is free, unless you sell the domain via sedo (as slaydragon mentions) they will charge comission.

Is Sedo the best? That's arguable. There are many other parking programs out there.. they each have their own pros/cons. You can find a few threads in the "Domain Name Discussion" forum talking about Sedo, NameDrive, and other parking services.

As for all the questions, no need to be sorry We were all "newbies" once. Gotta start somewhere.

Hope this helps,
Eric

Actually I do have another about domains in general.

Since this is going to be my first domain that I buy, and iv never bought one before, what would you recommend be the first thing I do? I know so many things can go wrong and I don't want my first experience to be a bad one, it might put me off
