Mini Sites??

I have seen in threads over the last couple of days people talking about setting up mini sites, are these easy to set up and if so how would I go about it?

Well, they are very easy to set up, but a word of advice, dont set up the turnkey site as it is and out it live. Search Engines regard that as duplicate content and will ban your website. You can get mini sites from almost everywhere nowadays ranging from $1 for a complete set to $ 20 for the same set.

These are the OLD fashioned So-called minisites (More Correctly Called Content or Article sites) .These are those tired & over-used Park page look sites with Supposed 400 pages of endless Article URLS and OLD ,tired Canned content that are available for as little as $1 . Avoid like the PLAGUE.

And then there is a TRUE minisite, that has only a few articles and pages, but is more likely to be acceptable to Google because of the Freshness of the articles (if Updated on a regular basis) .These MiniSites can easily be PR4 or higher,.

BFT,
Great resources.
How quickly should a moderately experienced person be able to get a site like that up and running? Unfortunately I am a newbie, but I have a business partner who is a bit more in the know.

Is there a magic number when it comes to developing an income stream from minisites? What I mean is, on average, if you develop 10 acceptable minisites using some common approaches you should be able to generate appx xxx $'s.

I know there are many variables, but I was just wondering from a business perspective if one could project out or average out and establish some realistic benchmarks. (I'm not talking cars.com with tons of traffic...more so talking taking a decent keyword (example: gardenoftools.com type name and developing a minisite around that with the idea of creating the traffic etc.)

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thanks alot.

N Fran

These sites are very easy to set up, you just need to know basic php or html and its not that difficult. As far as earning is concerned, for that you have to promote these websites and get good SERPs which will bring targetted traffic. These people will click on your links or ads and hence bring you money. Ad placement is the key to success in mini sites alongwith good traffic.

Or Use what I do either Use a CMS package like Joomla or a Website creator package like SiteStudio that comes with some hosting Cpanels.
These approaches are easier than learning Html/PHP for beginners and much quicker for us more experienced ,but time pressed old guys.

I went through the mini-site phase, but I no longer believe that they have any value.
Now I only design web sites with the express purpose of getting them DMOZ listed.
It requires a little more thinking and planning, but it really isn't that hard.
Set higher goals for your web sites and forget about the mini-sites.

OK
That is where I have gone wrong , I have been setting up minisites with the purpose of making money ,when all along I should have been getting them listed with DMOZ . Jeez I guess I should return all that lovely money I have received for my minisites , Here I was thinking they had some value.

DNA , YOU need to get out more and sniff the air , Not only is there a place for minisites ,but DMOZ listing is not Essential to making Money from websites. I do this domaining to make money ,not to have some little Badge of honour by being listed on DMOZ. Anyhow minisites can and do get DMOZ listed anyway.

I have been designing websites for years and it gets annoying to work with clients sometimes. Also trying to keep track of hugh websites and content can be stressful esspecially if you are trying to get high rankings in the search engines.

Mini sites are refreshing and easy to set up. Once you get a clean template you can knock out a handful of sites in a matter of days.

It is possible to drive traffic throught the search engines without having to have a gigantic site. Some of the most basic tactics work.

If you get board with Mini Sites try creating about 300 of them, you won't get board.
