Domain Market Questions....

Ive just recently found out about this market and have a few question about the domain name marketplace...

1) What makes a good domain name?

2) Are .com the only extensions with and real value?

3) How do you promote domain names for sale?

4) What kind of statistics should you keep track of and how?

Any other suggestions partaining to domain names would be appreciated as well.

It can be of many things. Some include brandable, short lenght, how common or easy to say.

2) Are .com the only extensions with and real value?
There are lot of people on oppisite sides in the answer. .com normally is easyer to sell and sells for more. .info is good if you create a information site. I know others extensions have done very well too.

3) How do you promote domain names for sale?
By posting in the for sale area of this forum or others. You can also try to contact and sell it to a end user(like a business) for alot more than to a reseller. You can also look in the wanted area and contact buyers who are looking for the type of domain you have.

4) What kind of statistics should you keep track of and how?
I would park it(sedo.com or namedrive.com are the most popular), from that you can see what kind of traffic you get. If it gets traffic when you list it for sale, make sure you say that as it can help increase the price. Also list it for sale at sedo or namedrive(or whatever parking company) and you may get a offer to sell it.

Any other suggestions partaining to domain names would be appreciated as well.
Take your time! Let us know if you need any more help!

I think in the future all domains that make sense will be worth money especially if they relate to an industry that can conduct its business online. Loans, dating, and real estate are three markets where i think domains will increase in price. .us and .info will probably increase over time as well as .tv
